The Blower's Daughter

Interview with Damien Rice by Andrew Millen from The Times, May 4, 2004

"Discussing these matters is difficult since he labours under the poetic delusion that he doesnâ??t write anything himself and that the songs pop out spontaneously, but I do congratulate him on the treacle-slicer at the end of his song, The Blowerâ??s Daughter, in which the refrain, â??I canâ??t take my eyes off youâ??, is finally qualified by â??Until I find someone newâ??. Now this song, he says, was about this girl he was obsessed by. No names of course, but she was the daughter of this â??blowerâ??. Anyhow, he had recorded it several times and none of the versions satisfied him. To make matters worse, the blowerâ??s daughter hadnâ??t been talking to him for a while and what he really needed was to sing it to her.

â??Then she happened to come over one night. We had some food and just before she left I invited her to the room where I had the mike set. I said: â??I just want to sing you a songâ??. I just sat in front of the mikes and pressed record and played her the song.â?? And, phut, by the end of it, the pash was over. He could take his eyes off her."

Music Mood: Amos Lee - Click here to give him a listen.

"All In"

"Miss Bella"

"10 Year Gap"

So.....I took a nap today.........and Mt. St. Helens erupted.
(shaking head)
I turn away from the world for a little bit, and it goes crazy on me.
I hadn't taken a nap in a while.
I think the last time I took a nap, Hillary Duff got another movie part.
Such is life, I guess.

Bada-bing ,

"Naked Doll"

Video of me jumping the creek, Yeah for video!!

This entry is a continuation of the road trip we had on Saturday. I barely made the jump across the creek. I had my camera in my right hand. I knew if I fell into the water, that thing was staying above water, for sure.

Peace, Love and Yeah for video (Happy Dance!!),
Matt

Me llamo estudipo

I'm an idoit.

I completely forgot that I joined Xanga last freakin' July, just as I was starting this site. I was looking at xanga.com and it hit me.

Idoit is me!

Heh, guess I'll be using both.

My xanga site

"You say you wander your own land.
But when I think about it,
I don't see how you can.
You're aching, you're breaking,
And I can see the pain in your eyes.
Says everybody's changing,
And I don't know why."

I think these words go well with this picture I took,

I Don't Care!

I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care.

Leave me alone. Stop talking. Can you stop talking??

Wow, you're still talking and I still don't care.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Help please, PLEASE!!!! Save me from insanity!!!!!!!

Stop with the fake laughs, and stop trying to be someone that you're not.

I DON'T CARE!!!!

I had to get that out.

The picture as nothing to do with the ranting.

I remember seeing this picture and thinking "Woah, I can't remember the last time I saw myself from the back. Interesting. Oh man, my wallet really sticks out." I though it was interesting, so I thought I'd share it.

Family and relatives dispersed throughout the picture.
Left to right: Grandma Loya, Mom, Aunt Monica, Cousin Jeremy, my sis, and me.

Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I miss your call. I realized after calling you and leaving the voicemail that you have no clue what the "PAC" is. Heh. For future reference, the "PAC" is the Performing Arts Center here on campus. I was in one of the little practice rooms doing my thing.

Peace, Love and a bowl of Lucky Charms,
Matt

P.S. - I instantly got a craving for Lucky Charms right there.

Pretty close, it's Arizona.

Bye Bye

Bo-jangles, my dog
Rent away!!!!
High School soccer days (I'm on the right of Mr. Red)
View all 4 photos...
Music Mood: The beat that is being created by my thoughts bouncing around inside my head.

If today was my last day on earth, I would:

1) Speed away from Western in my car towards home.
2) Call everyone I know and tell them how much I love them.
3) Play the guitar in a semi-crowded area.
4) Skydive, then Basejump off of the Space Needle.
5) Steal somthing valuable, and hope not to get caught.
6) Place an order for 20 pizzas at Domino's to be delivered to my neighbor.
7) High-five everyone I walk past.
8 ) Eat a clover.
9) Cut my hair and donate it to "Locks of Love". I don't care if it's not long enough, they're taking it.
10) Rent a ton of movies and give them to people. Hey, they'll never catch me.
11) Perform songs for anybody that wants to listen.
12) Have sex. I'm not ashamed to admit it. With who though? Hmmm....
13) After driving home, trash the hell out of my car. Smash it to pieces.
14) Have pumpkin pie & Apple Juice for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
15) Play soccer for about an hour.....maybe nude. Maybe.
16) Tell everyone how I REALLY feel about them.
17) Fuckin' talk.
18) Play with Bo-jangles, my dog.
19) Drive down the highway going 140mph!
20) Write a song called "Nudie futbol".
21) Give every penny I have to charity.
22) Walk up to a huge cliff, and yell at the top of my lungs.
23) Break some more stuff.
24) Take a Karate class.
25) Go to a zoo, jump over the fences and just start petting caged animals.
26) Bring my dad to a tux store, rent a nice tux for him and use my credit card.
27) Last hours, take a blanket outside and watch the stars.

the makings of a very interesting last day indeed.
i love it!

I'm ready for it

Hey there, how are you?!

I'm doing good, can't complain. Should be studying right now, but I always make up excuses in my head not to, for some reason.

Hmmm, I should probably do my laundry.
Pick up my notebook.....
Ooohhh, I have a good idea for a song.
Okay, I just wrote about duck being chased by a turkey sandwich. Study time, Focus.
Oh man, my favorite show 24 is on, gotta watch!!
Start filling out the study guide.
Already getting bored with the study guide. Think I'll write something on the fotopage.
Okay, I'm seriously going to study after writing this.
Oh man, I have to look at the schedule of classes for next quarter. Hahaha.

I hope you are doing well.
I hope you are doing as well as a finely tuned piano beneath your fingers.

"Dancing around with my square white friend.
He knows so much, but he cannot bend.
I'll pass on the grass, and the hazy cup.
I want to remember when I wake up.
Not lay in bed and pop those pills,
I feel for those it seems to kill, it kills."

Have a lovely day filled with procrastination,

The Foggy Night

A Taste
Of
Something Different

Music Mood: Ben Folds - "The Luckiest"

Last night was a very very very foggy night here on campus. There were so many things that I wanted to take pictures of but I couldn't because my camera doesn't do so well at night. I got some alright pictures, but didn't get what I really wanted . You know how you can see the rays of a light through a tree or branch when it is really foggy. Yeah, that's what I really wanted to get. That is what caused me to go outside and take pictures, but didn't get it. After trying to take a couple of pictures of the rays, the pictures just came out all blurry. So I gave up and took pictures of different things. I hope you enjoy them.

I was planning on saving up my money this summer and getting the Canon Rebel Digital SLR, but yeah, that's a lot of freakin' money. About $500-600. I think that will be my long term investment. Hmmmm, if I put away $10 every month, I should be able to buy it in about 5 years. Sound good? Instead of the Rebel, I am going to buy an Ipod. I am a music freak. 5000 songs!! I have about 800 songs on my computer and I thought that was a lot. I have been writing down the wide range of artists/bands that I like, so when I get the Ipod i'll remember them all and download the music onto it. It's kind of funny how I would rather listen to music then listen to one of my class lectures. I guess a lot of people would. But I have done that a couple of times, heh. Listen to lecture, get bored, listen to a couple of tunes, and go back to lecture. Fah-reek.

Later fellow freaks,
Matt

P.S. - "If you feel discouraged when there is a lack of color here. Please don't worry lover, it's really bursting at the seams, the spectrum A to Z."

Now THIS is some BRILLIANT color!!! Tue 1-Mar-2005 05:23
